Echoes of Desire, 2024, prints on Inkjet luster photo paper, shot on Canon Rebel T8i, two contact sheets included, 8 × 10 inch each

Echoes of Desire plays off of my photo series “Exposed: The Corruption of the 21st Century Black Women.”  I would say that this body of work is a screenshot analysis of the makeup of my body and its parts, and the ways in which I continue to discover the beauty and imperfectly perfect parts of myself. This continuous capture and conversation with myself is for the continuous growth of the self acceptance I have for my body image. I want to be able to play with color and contort parts of myself  to see the new capabilities of my body. I made this series after finishing my senior thesis essay and was thinking about Sarah Baartman, a woman I talk about in my essay, while in the mode of taking photos of my body. It made me remember the power I have in taking these photos and the autonomy I have in the way I want my body to be viewed by society.
