Before I Let Go, 2024, etching print on printmaking paper, 8 x 8 inches

I created this etching of my Grandma Carol on a copper plate for my first time making an etching. It was a beautiful experience to draw her picture from her prom. I’m not sure if it was her Junior or Senior prom, but her face looked exactly like my mother’s in this picture. The photo was taken around 1960 - 1965 since she would have been in her late teenage years during this time period. I wanted my first etched plate to be of a family member that means the world to me, and the first person I thought of was my grandmother, even though she’s passed now.
