That’s All See Ya!, 2024, silkscreen print on printmaking paper, 17 × 22 inches

For this project I decided I would use words from one of the last voicemail recordings we had from my dad’s last phone he used before he passed. I listen to these recordings often to hear his voice. He had said the four words “That’s all, see ya!” to my mom at the end of a voicemail he left her. I chose these words in particular out of everything he said from the call because these words versus all the others was like a final parting saying that I felt he left my family and I with. The context of the voicemail being, he was asking my mom to play his lottery numbers for him. My guess is that it probably was the Mega Million or Powerball lottery tickets that he always used to play. Due to this guess I decided to create the words with the colors from the Mega Million tickets and add the ticket’s signature symbol in the mix. The gray around the texts adds a haunting quality. The repetition of the words on each print plays on the recollection of a particular sound as time passes.
